Librarian 2.0: It’s All in the Attitude! →
librarian2librarian: (By Helen Partridge) This is a very interesting article presenting the results of a project that identified the skills, knowledge and attributes required by the successful librarian in the web 2.0 world (and beyond!) womenaresociety: Confirming many people’s suspicions: Having more women—or more socially conscious people—in a group may make the team smarter, according to a recent study. The research found that group intelligence, as tested by several team tasks and complex problem-solving, has relatively little to do with individual team members’ intelligence; teams that had members with higher IQs...

Costco's pharmacy discount
Consumer Reports magazine listed wholesale stores, like Costco, to be the best value for prescription drugs and boy are they right. My medications are so much cheaper there than at #CVS and it is less crazy/busy there. I just found out that if you are a Costco member and your insurance will not cover a medication and you have to pay out-of-pocket, Costco will give you a slightly discounted price...

Good customer service should be acknowledged
In today’s high-stress culture, some people give up exhausted. If someone delivers stellar customer service I am going to find a way to thank them. A woman in Training helped me apply for funding to attend two conference. She was patient and answered all my questions. I emailed her boss today to let him know about her customer service and communication skills and abilities. He said he would...

Winter Olympics in Korea in 2018!
I was so excited to read that South Korea was chosen for the 2018 Winter Olympics! In January 2007 I was teaching English in a rural school near Pyeongchang and we created banners to show our support. I think people from the Olympic committee were visiting Pyeongchang, which was very close to where I was teaching, so our banners would be shown to the international visitors. Success!

Kung Fu Panda 2
I enjoyed Kung Fu Panda 2. I find it funny that so many animated films seem to deal with the underlying theme of adoption. It’s nice to see adoption portrayed in a good light compared to the horror films that incorporate adoption, like The Orphan.

Home is where the heart is
As much as I like traveling, attending conferences, learning new things, and meeting awesome people, spending time at home feels nice! I spent the last 3 weekends away and am looking forward to being home. Hopefully, I can clean up the apartment. I’m also looking forward to seeing family next weekend for my dad’s 60th birthday!  I’ve been so busy traveling, I forgot about my...
